Knitting for Olive – Pure Silk – 50g

Knitting for Olive Pure Silk is a soft, luxury fingering weight yarn of pure bourette silk (raw silk). It is produced from silk fibres collected from cocoons after the chrysalises are allowed to mature into moths and escape.

Silk has extensive heat-regulating qualities and can therefore be used in garments all year round. Silk typically absorbs in the region of 30% of its weight in moisture whilst still feeling dry against the skin so it is especially suitable for summer wear. Silk, like wool, has insulating properties, retaining heat in cold weather.

The little butterfly on the label indicates that the chrysalises were allowed to mature into butterflies, thereby allowing them to complete their life cycle.

The spinning mill follows ethical, technical and environmental standards. This means that the yarns are free from harmful chemicals.

The yarn is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certified.
